The Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) Program’s mission is to maximize consumer confidence in and acceptance of beef by focusing the producer’s attention to daily production practices that influence the safety, wholesomeness and quality of beef and beef products through the use of science, research and education initiatives. Content includes: Cattle and Herd Health Feedstuffs and Sources, Biosecurity Feed Additives and Medications, Record-keeping Cattle Care and Husbandry, Stockmanship, Antibiotic Management Resources, Cattle Handling & Care. BQA is valuable because it: Shows commitment to food safety and quality, safeguards public image of beef and dairy industry, upholds consumer confidence in valuable beef products, improves sale value of marketed beef cattle, and enhances herd profitability through better management
Notes - Cost: $5 - payable day of workshop, cash (exact change please) or check made payable to Kentucky Beef Network. Certification is good for 3 years. A pre-requisite for CAIP cost-share large animal program. Does not meet educational requirement for CAIP.
