Backyard Bug Box is a fun 2 day class where kids explore outside and learn all about insects!
- Day 1: June 9th, 11 AM - 2 PM - We will be collecting insects outside, so dress for the weather. Participants can also start collecting now leading up to the class and bring their finds with them on day 2.
- Day 2: June 18th, 10 AM - 1 PM - We will assemble our bug collection boxes and learn how to identify the insects we found.
Registration opens 5/12/2026 at 9 AM. Participants are welcome to bring snacks and a water bottle. Attendance is required both days in order to complete the class. Questions? Contact brandie.todd@uky.edu
For our Boone County 4-H participants: Our project classes are designed for youth to learn various skills and have a completed project that can be entered in the Boone County fair. After being judged, projects are displayed the week of fair, June 22 - 27, 2026. All projects are available for pickup Sunday, June 28 at the Fairgrounds, with the exception of those selected to compete at the State Fair in August.
